Eddie Richards

Considerado un pionero en cuanto a tech-house británico se refiere. La revista Mixmag le definió como "el padrino del house y el techno" de las islas británicas. De hecho es uno de los primeros Dj’s que apostaron por el house a mediados de los ochenta además de erigirse en uno de los residentes originales del Carden Palace londinense. Eddie se convirtió con el tiempo en una figura clave en la dinamización de la nueva música de clubs hace ya veinte años.Después de pinchar en clubs tan influyentes como Clink St. Y Heaven en Londres o el Hacienda de Manchester se convirtió en toda una primera figura de legendarias fiestas como Sunrise, Energy y Helter Skelter.

También destaca Richards por algunos trabajos de estudio como Acidman de 1988 que entró en el Nacional Top 20 de Inglaterra además de ser remezclado por Ralphi Rosario, Orbital y The Shamen. Desde mitad de los ochenta su nombre aparece en casi todos los libros, documentales y películas que hablan de la cultura de baile en la cual el destacó por su mezcla de techno con bajos profundos y soulful & tribal house, un formato de set que siempre ha mantenido. Mezcla que le ha reportado calificativos como el ya comentado de ‘pionero del tech-house’.

Eddie lanzó un nuevo sello con distribución de Prime llamado Lunar Tunes con cuatro referencias hasta la fecha entre las que se incluyen producciones propias como Kodetrax E.P. y trabajos de Kinas of tomorrow, SIPI (Pure Science) y D.Ranger. Entre sus producciones más recientes destaca la producción de un track exclusivo para el Muzik Ericsson Dance Awards de 1999. Además la primavera de 2003 realizó algunos trabajos para End Recordings, Swag Records, Crayon y el ya comentado Kodetrax para Lunar Tunes. También lanza por esas fechas el mix de deep-house Is this Music? (originalmente editado por Universe TV via Music Choice para 12 países europeos) además de otro Cd mix que forma parte del catálogo de mixes del sello londinense Eukatech Records. Suyo es uno de los temas del verano de 2003, Soul is life del sello Storm.

Aunque tiene más popularidad en USA, Eddie Richards gira actualmente por todo el mundo: Canadá, Asia –incluido China, Hong Kong, Filipinas, Malasia y Singapur- además de otros bolos en Australia y Nueva Zelanda. Como promotor de fiestas en Londres, Richards se encarga de las ‘Lunar’ incluyendo a Dj’s de la plataforma Dy-na-mix que el mismo dirigió en la década pasada. Además pincha regularmente en Subterrain del The End –mejor club underground de 1999 según los galardones entregados cada año por la publicación Muzik- además de actuar cada dos meses en las fiestas Wiggle del The Fabric. Con la aparición de Evi Eddie Richards se embarcará en un nuevo tour mundial. De momento lleva más de 100.000 millas recorridas –una distancia similar a dar cuatro veces la vuelta al mundo-.
